Santa?

Um... Just watch this.

So it looks like they definitely went for a darker vision in the reboot of The Santa Clause.

It's really sad to see Tim Allen give up the lead role. He was so... decent. Just kidding, he was actually alright, and the first Santa Clause was actually a decent kids' Christmas movie. It was one of my favorites growing up. Can't say I ever saw the sequels though, because, well, you know:

Apparently they took the whole "Jack Frost nipping at your nose" thing a little too seriously in part 3, because he looks like he's about to eat someone's face.

But (as is usual) I digress.

Rare Exports is the first feature length film by a fellow named Jalmari Helander, who you may know because he has a really Scandinavian-sounding name. Also he's directed a bunch of short films. But let's be honest; if he gets famous it's totally because of his awesome name.

As said before, Rare Exports is Helander's first feature length film, and as you may or may not have discerned from the trailer, IT CONCERNS DUDES WHO HUNT SANTA CLAUS. The concept is Helander's own, coming from a pair of shorts films that he both wrote and directed, the first of which you can see below:

Helander is definitely quite the talent behind the camera, and quite imaginative inside the dome piece. Rare Exports looks hugely entertaining.
